SBCC’s John Uribe, Chris Anderson and Chad Toocheck have been named to the All-State Region VI football team.
“It is a tremendous accomplishment for these guys and a credit to their work ethic,” said fourth-year Vaquero coach Craig Moropoulos. “All three had fantastic seasons, especially Toocheck who did this in his first season.”
SBCC went 4-6 in 2010 and finished fourth in the American Pacific Conference with a 3-3 record. Four of the losses were by six points or less.
Uribe, a sophomore quarterback from Santa Barbara High, led the APC in passing and was No. 3 in Southern Cal with 23 touchdowns. He completed 62.5 percent (182-of-291) for 2,554 yards with just seven interceptions. He was second in the state with a passer rating of 157.5.
Uribe was the Offensive Player of the Year in the APC while Anderson and Toocheck were first-team selections.
Uribe has committed to Lindenwood University, a school in St. Charles, Mo., that’s switching from NAIA to NCAA Division 2 next season. The Lions averaged 52 points last year and scored more than 68 four times. Their biggest win was a school-record 90-19 victory over Culver-Stockton (Mo.).
Anderson is a 6-3, 276-pound offensive tackle from Hart High in Newhall who hasn’t decided where he’ll play in 2011.
Toocheck, a 6-3 freshman from Pittsburgh, Pa., was the No. 2 receiver in the APC with 60 catches for 851 yards and nine TDs.
