Chessie Jackson is tearing it up on the basketball court for the Williams College Ephs.
Jackson, a 6-1 senior from Dos Pueblos, was honored as the New England Small College Athletic Conference and New England Women’s Basketball Association’s player of the Week for Jan. 24.
Jackson also earned Weekly honors from the ECAC, who named her its New England Co-Player for the Week.
Jackson averaged 30.0 points per game during that week, hitting 22-of-37 shots from the floor (.595) and 11-of-20 from three-point range during a 2-0 weekend for the Ephs.
On Friday, Jan. 21 against Connecticut College, Jackson matched her career high with 29 points in a 72-47 victory, going 6-for-12 from long range. The next afternoon, she outscored Wesleyan in the first half 29-22 en route to a career-best 31 points on 12-of-17 shooting (.706) in 25 minutes of work as the Ephs won 82-48.
For the week, Jackson shot 59.5 (22 of 37) from the floor, 55 percent (11 of 20) from beyond the three-point line and 83.3 percent (5 of 6) from the foul line. In the win over Wesleyan she added five rebounds, five assists, four blocks and three steals.
The Ephs, ranked No. 7 in NCAA Division 3, won two more games this last weekend to improve to 19-1.
Jackson leads the Ephs with a 13 points per game average and her 6.4 rebounds per game, 28 steals and 23 blocks are all tied for second on the team.
