The Dos Pueblos boys cross country team hasn’t stopped running.
In Saturday morning’s 32nd annual Resolution Day Runs at Palm Park, members of the top-10 team in the state made their presence known in the 5- and 10-kilometer races along the Santa Barbara waterfront.
In the 10k, Chargers senior Sergey Sushchikh took first place in 32 minutes, 25 seconds. In November, he finished fifth in the CIF State Cross Country Championships, helping DP place 10th.
The 5k race was won by road-race veteran Eric Forte in 16:18, with DP sophomore Bryan Fernandez (16:22) and senior Jacob Bartholomew (16:28) finishing second and third. They beat out longtime local multi-sport standouts Todd Booth (16:40) and Mike Smith (16:47).
Santa Barbara’s Andrea McLarty was the first woman in the 5k, finishing 11th overall in 17:52.
Former Laguna Blanca running star Kevin Lunn, home for the holidays from Yale, finished second in the 10k in 33:24. Booth took third (34:40), Justin Torrellas was fourth (35:49) and DP sophomore Max Davis placed fifth in 36:15.
Krista Drechsler was the top woman, placing sixth overall in 36:15, and DP senior Alfred Scott came in seventh (37:54).
Congrats to Sergey Sushchikh. Way to represent, Dos Pueblos!!
