San Marcos poured in 34 goals in two victories Friday at the Bonita Girls Water Polo Tournament.
The fourth-seeded Royals whipped Schurr 17-3 and beat Los Altos 17-7 to advance to a morning quarterfinal match against Martin Luther King of Riverside. the 10th-ranked team in CIF Division 2.
“It was a good day today. We got contributions from a lot of kids,” said San Marcos coach Chuckie Roth.
Against Schurr, Ashley Wagner led the way with four goals, and Halie Johnson, Angie Conner and Brittny Hummel added three apiece.
Wagner and Johnson each scored three in the Los Altos win.
“Two girls that usually don’t score a lot for us combined for 13 goals,” said an excited Roth about Wagner and Johnson. “It was awesome. Ashley and Halie are coming into their own.”
Rose Koper and Hummel both scored four goals against Los Altos and Hannah Koper added three. Goalie Alex Brown made nine saves in the match.
