San Marcos overcame visiting Providence Hall 32-29 on Saturday, surviving the non-league contest after a potential game-tying shot didn’t fall at the buzzer for the Lions.
Gabby Sandoval led San Marcos scorers with 10 points while Emily Dietz connected on three 3-point shots and finished with nine points.
Providence Hall’s Lacey Gonzalez led all scorers with 15 points. Faith Emerson was the other major component of the Lions’ attack with 11 points.
The Lions collected 14 offensive rebounds as a team, something head coach Arianna Gnekow cited as key to keeping her team in the game. Hannah Park led the Lions in that category with five.
The Royals (4-13) play again on Thursday against Dos Pueblos. Providence Hall plays next on Friday.
