Lanea Pearson and Katrina Von Burg reached double digits in scoring for Cate’s girls basketball team on Saturday, as the Rams took care of Malibu 39-36.
Pearson posted a team-high 11 points and added three rebounds while Von Burg scored 10 with five rebounds. Pearson also provided the defense against Malibu’s Danielle Bush, who scored 24 of Malibu’s 33 points.
“Honestly, were it not for Lanea Pearson’s tireless on-the-ball defense and the team’s great focus on helping out, Bush would have scored 44 instead of 24,” said Rams head coach Jay Dorion.
Grace Dickman contributed seven points and was the Rams’ leading rebounder with seven. Lisa Huang hit two big jumpshots in the second half to help protect a lead the Rams built with a 17-point second quarter.
“Overall, it was a very big win for a team who seems to be finding their identity and their confidence,” Dorion said.
Way to go Rams!
