The first-place Tri-Valley League girls water polo showdown didn’t go the way Carpinteria High hoped on Wednesday.
Malibu jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first period and rolled past the visiting Warriors 14-1.
“They are that good. They are really fast,” Carpinteria coach Brian Swarm said. “They scored seven goals in the first quarter and we never recovered.”
Roxanne Hugo scored the only goal for the Warriors in the third period. Carpinteria goalkeeper made 14 saves.
The Warriors (11-4, 4-1) are back in action Thursday against Oaks Christian.
