Laguna Blanca’s girls basketball team suffered a 54-31 defeat on Saturday to Louisville, a team featuring three players at least six-feet tall.
Louisville’s height bothered Laguna to start as the Owls fell behind 25-10 at halftime. A full-court press in the half worked to neutralize the advantage, with the Owls winning the fourth quarter.
“When we put the pressure on, it was a pretty even game,” said Laguna Blanca head coach Chris Foster.
Laguna’s tallest player, Krysta Brown, did well against the unusually tall inside presence of Louisville, recording a triple-double. Brown scored 11 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to go with 10 steals.
“Considering what she had to go up against, I would have to give her the game ball,” Foster said.
Natalie Nomura recorded a team-high 13 points and connected on two 3-pointers.
Laguna Blanca’s next action is Friday in a Condor League matchup with Thacher.
