Lacey Gonzalez was an unstoppable force for Providence Hall on Monday night, pouring in 28 points to carry the Lions to a 51-35 girls basketball win over Laguna Blanca.
“She was a driving machine,” Providence Hall coach Ariana Gnekow said of Gonzalez. “It was nice having her back.”
Gonzalez was out last week with the flu.
“Gonzalez had a heck of a game,” Laguna coach Chris Foster said.
Faith Emerson grabbed 10 rebounds and Olivia Johnson hauled in seven boards for the Lions (7-8).
“Our post players stepped up on rebounding and our guards committed a lot less turnovers,” said Gnekow.
Laguna Blanca’s inside game suffered by the absence of Krysta Brown.
“Their front line hurt us without Krysta,” Foster said.
Natalie Nomura led the Owls with 10 points. Zoe Serbin added nine points and Amanda Schulenberg had eight points, six blocks and four rebounds.
Laguna Blanca (4-10) plays its Senior Night game on Wednesday against Dunn and plays at Cate on Friday in a game that could decide the second playoff spot from the Condor League.
