SBCC hit 10-of-20 from long range on Saturday night but couldn’t overcome a slew of fouls and turnovers in an 87-75 men’s basketball loss to Hancock.
Steve Saenz, Malik Bradley and Scott Burrows each had 12 points for the Vaqueros (6-14, 2-3) in the WSC North game at Santa Maria. Bradley and Burrows posted season highs.
Richard Somdah had 11 points and seven rebounds for Santa Barbara, which trailed 43-37 at the half. The Vaqueros shot 46 percent and made more triples (10) than free throws (9). They also had 20 turnovers.
Hancock’s Jordan O’byrne hit 6-11 from 3-point range and led all scorers with 26 points. The Bulldogs (8-12, 3-2) made 22-31 from the charity stripe while SBCC was 9-14.
The Vaqueros have two home games next week against Cuesta on Wednesday and Moorpark on Saturday. Both tip off at 5 p.m.
