Edwin Elizarraras scored one goal and assisted on three others to lead the Carpinteria High boys soccer team to a 4-2 win over visiting Fillmore in a Tri-Valley League match on Friday.
“Edwin had a good game,” Carpinteria coach Danny Torres said.
Elizarraras opened the scoring, jumping on a rebound of a shot by Ismael Soriano and putting it away in the third minute.
Fillmore stepped up its pressure and scored the equalizer a few minutes later.
The score remained 1-1 at halftime.
The Warriors struck two minutes into the second half when Oscar Montes scored on a one-timed shot off a cross from Elizarraras.
Fillmore would fight back and tie the score five minutes later.
Carpinteria took the lead for good in the 61st minute on a corner kick play. The ball was played to Elizarraras, who fed Genaro Hurtado for the goal.
The Warriors worked the same play in the 74th minute and this time Elizarraras passed to Luca Rigatoni, who finished his chance at the near post.
Carpinteria improves to 3-0 in the TVL and 9-1-3 overall.
