Cid the Kid wasn’t playing around on Saturday in San Diego.
The Dos Pueblos senior scored 16 points and snatched six steals to lead the Chargers past Mira Mesa 51-43 at Point Loma High School.
“The reason we were able to be so successful tonight was bceause Robert Cid stepped up for us tonight,” said Chargers head coach Joe Zamora.
Pablo Miranda matched Cid with a team-high 16 points to go with four assists. Mansai Conner pulled down 13 rebounds for DP.
Mira Mesa grabbed the lead in the first quarter and things took a turn for the worst for DP as leading scorer Jay Larinan went to the bench with three fouls in the first quarter. Larinan battled foul trouble the whole game, eventually fouling out in the fourth quarter after limited minutes.
“We did it without one of our leaders so that’s why I’m so proud,” Zamora said.
Dos Pueblos improves to 9-7 overall on the season. The week ahead brings Channel League games with Santa Barbara and Ventura on Wednesday and Friday.
