Melissa Lemus and Juli Cullins combined for 34 points to lead Carpinteria High’s girls basketball team to a 52-27 win over visiting La Reina in a Frontier League game on Tuesday night.
“We blew the game open at the end of third and beginning of the fourth quarter,” Carpinteria coach Dan Mercer said. “It was a good team win.”
The Warriors’ pressure gave the Regents fits.
Lemus had seven steals to go along with her 19 points and six assists. Cullins tossed in 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Mirina De Leon had six points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Carpinteria improves to 8-9 and 2-1 in league play.
