Bishop Diego coach Brent Gonsalves was pleased how his team performed Tuesday against Grace Brethren.
Unfortunately for the Cardinals, they couldn’t score and dropped a 1-0 decision in a Frontier League match.
“I thought it was one of best games of the season,” Gonsalves said. “We played good soccer, some of the best soccer Bishop’s ever played. It was a very good game.”
Grace Brethren scored the game-winner in the 36th minute.
“We’ve dropped the last two games against the toughest teams in the league. In both games, we gave up an early goal and both teams were able to sit in. That allowed us to attack, but we’re still going against a lot of numbers.”
Bishop (3-2, 8-5-2) opens the second round of league play on Thursday at Carpinteria.
