Santa Clara scored on a Bishop Diego error in the ninth minute, packed in its defense and came away with a 2-0 win on Thursday in a Frontier League girls soccer match.
“Their coach did a great job. He took his two best players and put them back on defense,” Bishop coach Brent Gonsalves said. “We hit the post a couple of times, and they defended well.”
Santa Clara scored its second goal in the 70th minute after the Cardinals failed to clear a corner kick.
Bishop falls to 3-1 in league and 8-4-2 overall.
