Imelda Bealer recorded nine steals to go along with a team-high 15 points Wednesday night in SBCC’s 55-44 women’s basketball victory at Oxnard.
Bealer, a 5-6 guard from Fairfax High in Los Angeles, hit 7-of-11 from the field and also handed out four assists. The Vaqueros improved to 15-7 overall and 2-2 in the WSC North.
Santa Barbara coach Sandrine Krul shuffled her starting lineup, inserting Brooke Berry and Mercedes Gonzalez. Berry finished with nine points, five rebounds and four of her team’s 21 steals. Gonzalez grabbed five rebounds.
The Vaqueros held Oxnard (5-10, 0-4) to 18 percent shooting in the first half while building a 29-17 lead. They stretched the margin to 24 points with six minutes to play.
SBCC travels to Hancock on Saturday for a 7 p.m. game.
