Thayer White scored 17 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for his second double-double of the season to lead the San Marcos boys basketball team to a 64-54 win over Morro Bay at the Coast Union Tournament.
Donny Nahmias controlled the game from the point with an efficient 13 points to go along with five assists and three steals against only two turnovers.
San Marcos employed an effective half court trap to get out to an 18-4 lead after the first quarter and the game never got closer than nine the rest of the way.
“Our starting five dominated the game for the 14 minutes they played together tonight,” San Marcos coach Jarrod Bradley said. “We outscored the Pirates 31-8 during that time. Thayer has continued his unstoppable play and had an amazing nine offensive rebounds. No one has been able to match up with him yet this year.”
The Royals improve to 5-1 while Morro Bay falls to 2-4.
