Carpinteria’s boys basketball team improved to 8-2 on the season after a 47-41 victory over Coast Union on Tuesday at the Village Chrisitian Tournament.
The Warriors built a 17-point lead at one point, but Coast Union refused to fade away down the stretch.
Carpinteria head coach Johnny Ward credited Johnny Jimenez and Erik Trujillo with coming up with the plays that made the difference in the second-half.
The Warriors face Santa Ynez on Wednesday for the second time this season. The Pirates handed the Warriors one of their two losses, a 47-44 decision at the Fillmore Tournament three weeks ago.
