Carpinteria’s boys basketball team bounced back from its first loss of the season on Thursday to record a 45-38 victory over L.A. Baptist on Friday at the Filmore Tournament.
The victory, which moves the Warriors to 3-1 on the season, also puts Carpinteria in Saturday’s consolation championship against Channel Islands.
“It was a team effort, everyone who came in did their job and did it well,” said Warriors coach Johnny Ward.
Oscar Aguilar and Eric Trujillo led the Warriors in scoring with nine points apiece. Daniel Babineaux received his first start of the season and did well according to Ward.
After trailing 25-22 at halftime, L.A. Baptist was able to draw even at 34-34 late in the third quarter. From there, the Warriors only gave up four points the rest of the game.
Carpinteria, 3-1 on the season, suffered its first loss on Thursday, a 47-44 setback to Santa Ynez.
