Triathlete Kyle Visin was the leading Santa Barbara area finisher at the 34th annual Lasse Viren 20k trail run up Sycamore Canyon in Point Mugu State Park last Sunday.
Visin finished in eighth place in 1 hour, 22 minutes, 22 seconds. Craig Spreadbury was next fastest local finisher 11th in 1:23.07.
The top local woman was Mariann Thomas of Carpinteria in 29th place in 1:31.54. She took first place in the women’s 45-49 age group.
Also winning age-group titles were Marcelo Mejia in the men’s 35-39 group (13th overall, 1:24.51), Sierra Witnov in the women’s 25-29 division (38th overall, 1:34.34), and Nancy Kaplan in the women’s 55-59 category (94th overall, 1:43.56).

The race is named after the former Finnish long-distance runner who won four gold medals at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics.
