Villanova gave Carpinteria an idea as to who the favorite in the Frontier League is this season, handing the Warriors a 57-24 trouncing at the Bishop Diego Cardinal Classic.
“It was the third really talented team we’ve played in the tournament,” said Warriors head coach Dan Mercer, whose team plays on Saturday in the seventh-place game against Cabrillo.
“I like our chances if we continue to play hard and improve,” Mercer said.
Melissa Lemus and Mirina Deleon led the Warriors with six points each.
