It was a close game in the fourth quarter but Bishop Diego’s girls basketball team was upended 44-34 by Villanova on Saturday, as the Cardinals finished off their own tournament in fourth place.
Camarillo claimed the Cardinal Cage Classic title over St. Bonaventure in the championship game.
Kelsey Stimson made the all-tournament team for Bishop, after scoring eight points on Saturday. Allison Breuer recorded a team-high nine points. Greer Shull put up seven points and Josie McCoy added five.
“We were right there, we just couldn’t get the ball to fall when we needed it to,” said Cardinals head coach Jeff Burich.
The 5-3 Cardinals face Malibu next in a home game on Monday.
