Trabucco, Dons shut down Corona del Mar

Maddie Trabucco stopped 13 shots on Saturday and her Santa Barbara Dons stopped visiting Corona del Mar, knocking off the Sea Queens 7-3.

Corona del Mar is ranked No. 3 in CIF Division I while the Dons are currently ranked No. 5.

Charlotte Hendrix led Santa Barbara in scoring with three goals and Sophie Trabucco added two more. Kelsey O’Brien tallied a goal, two assists and three drawn ejections. Makenzy Fowler scored once with two assists.

Dons head coach Mark Walsh called Maddie Trabucco “spectacular” for her performance, which helped improve Santa Barbara’s early-season record to 2-0 with two wins over top-7 Division I teams.

The Dons play again on Tuesday against San Marcos. It will be the Channel League opener for both teams.
