Neither San Marcos nor Golden Valley could break through in a boys soccer match on Friday, resulting in a 0-0 draw at San Marcos.
“Today’s game was a tale of two halves,” said San Marcos coach Scott Holt. “The Royals took the better of the first half and Bakersfield took the better of the second half.”
“Today, our goalkeeper Zach Colgrove played his best game of the season, eating up cross balls and being decisive and aggressive,” Scott continued. “Our midfield battled all game against Bakersfield’s talented mid. For the first time this season our outside midfielders met their match.”
“Our guys were disappointed with the tie, which makes a coach happy. Although are boys did not play their best game, they battled for the entire match. Improvement is what we need and being battle tested is important. We were tested and held our own.”
The Royals (4-5-1) play twice at home on Saturday, starting at 11:30 against Buchanan and then at 5:30 against Segerstrom.
