Cate’s boys soccer team completed a perfect Soccer Town Showcase on Saturday, wrapping up a 3-0 performance with victories over Harvard-Westlake and Costa Mesa.
A 3-1 triumph over the Wolverines was especially significant, as it was the only time in the Showcase that a Division VII school defeated a Division I school. The Rams followed that up with a 4-2 victory over Costa Mesa.
Avery Schwartz capped off a brilliant Showcase with four more goals on Saturday after recording a hat trick in Cate’s win on Friday. The junior attacker compiled seven goals and one assist in three games.
Jackson Mauze and Ema Boateng both scored a goal and assisted on another for Cate on Saturday.
Cate head coach described it as “a day that will long remain etched in the minds of Cate soccer fans.”
The Rams are off to a 5-0 start overall.
