Santa Barbara generated several of good scoring chances in the final minutes but the Dons couldn’t cash in on any of them and had to settle for a 1-1 tie with visiting Santa Ynez in a non-league girls soccer match on Thursday night.
The Dons put pressure on the Pirates, but goalkeeper Jessica Mauk was up to the task as she stopped 11 shots.
The shot she didn’t stop was a nifty one-timer by Krista Jimenez, which tied the score in the 36th minute.
Santa Ynez took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Valerie Kahn in the 17th minute. She blasted a ball that deflected off Santa Barbara goalkeeper Angela Biancone and into the net.
Santa Barbara drops to 0-6-3 while Santa Ynez is 1-4-2.
