Dos Pueblos’ girls basketball team punched a ticket for the fifth-place game in the Gold Coast Tournament on Friday by bringing down Santa Ynez 64-49.
Saturday’s fifth-place game is against Channel Islands at Rio Mesa High in Oxnard.
Stefanie Salinas was a spark off the bench, pouring in a team-high 17 points by connecting on 5-of-8 3-pointers.
“Our bench is really stepping up,” said Chargers head coach Jelani Hicks. “I’ve been really happy with how our bench has been playing.”
Starters Kristin Gowdy and Chiara DiMarco did their part, combining for 23 points. Gowdy recorded a double-double by adding 12 rebounds to an 11-point effort while DiMarco added eight steals. Claire Murphy made her mark with eight rebounds off the bench.
Hicks said he was also pleased with his team’s defense, notably DiMarco and Natalie Hilton.
Dos Pueblos upped its record to 7-1 on the year.
