Providence Hall’s boys basketball team improved to 2-1 on the season Saturday, bringing down Coastal Christian 69-31 in the Lions’ home opener.
JT Royston was Providence Hall’s leading scorer for the third straight game, pouring in 26 points to go with 13 rebounds. Royston did all his damage in only three quarters as the Lions were able to rest their starters in the fourth quarter. The senior guard is averaging 23 points per game so far this season.
“We really needed him to be the type of scorer he has been,” said Lions assistant coach Ian Lawler. “He’s been playing really well.”
Junior Douglas Throop and sophomore Nate Dutcher also reached double figures in scoring with 12 and 13 points, respectively. Junior Luke Gonzalez just missed out on a double-double with eight points and 11 rebounds.
The Lions played Saturday’s game at Westmont’s Murchison Gym, where they will play most of their home contests.
“Providence dominated the game from start to finish. We played a complete game,” added Lawler.
