San Marcos couldn’t make up for a slow start and dropped a 2-1 girls soccer match at Pacifica in Oxnard on Wednesday.
The Royals conceded a goal in the sixth minute and then fell behind 2-0 before they stepped up play.
Emma Jones scored for the Royals in the 55th minute to cut the deficit in half.
“From then on, we took it to them,” said San Marcos coach Lloyd Biggs. “We played very well. It wasn’t to be.”
San Marcos is 1-1-1 on the young season.
