San Marcos’ girls basketball team suffered a 45-33 setback at the Gold Coast Tournament on Friday, falling to Nordhoff.
Senior Judith Rodriguez was the Royals’ top scorer with 13 points.
“She played a great, aggressive game for us,” said Royals head coach Kristyn Miller.
Elysia Hodges made her first start for San Marcos and also drew her coach’s praise.
“The two of them – their energy – is what kept us going.”
San Marcos continues play on Saturday against Rio Mesa at Rio Mesa. Tip-off is 1 p.m.
