San Marcos’ girls basketball team turned in a runner-up performance at the Fillmore Tournament on Saturday, finishing up with a 50-22 setback to L.A. Baptist in the title game.
Emily Deitz and Gabby Sandoval led the Royals with eight points each but L.A. Baptist was able to limit all-tournament selection Desiree Porter-Ray to four points.
“Each game is another stepping stone,” said San Marcos head coach Kristyn Miller. “The girls have been great to learn from the last game and to take it to the next one.”
That would be the Gold Coast Tournament, which the Royals (2-2) host starting on Wednesday. San Marcos’ first game is at 5:30 in the Thunderhut.
