Johnny Requejo, a freshman at Carpinteria High, is one of 36 soccer players invited to a training camp for the U.S. under-15 national team in Bradenton, Fla.
Requejo, who plays on the varsity at Carpinteria and is a member of the Santa Barbara Soccer Club, is among nine defenders in the camp, which is run by coach Jim Barlow. He is one of 24 players returning from the team’s first camp in October at the Home Depot Center in Carson.
The players will train for eight days in Florida and play an international game on Thursday against India.
The players in the camp are eligible for the 2013 U-17 World Cup.
