Riley Lloyd provided a big boost for the Santa Barbara High girls basketball team in a 73-34 romp over Nordhoff in an opening-round game at the Gold Coast Tournament on Wednesday.
Lloyd scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Dons rebounded from their loss to Dos Pueblos last Saturday at the Lompoc Tournament. Pepperdine-bound Tess Emerson led Santa Barbara with 21 points and 16 rebounds.
The Dons (4-1) blew the game open with a 25-point second quarter.
“It was good. After the first quarter we played some decent basketball,” said Dons coach Andrew Butcher, whose team plays against Santa Ynez on Thursday at 7 p.m. at San Marcos High.
