Dos Pueblos’ wrestling team wrapped up competition at the Downey Duals on Saturday, finishing in sixth place after going 6-3 in the tournament.
The Chargers went 4-0 on Friday and won their first two matches on Saturday before losing steam as a team in their final three contests. DP defeated Rancho Verde and Garden Grove before losing to Walnut and Long Beach Poly to finish third in its pool. The Chargers were then edged 45-27 in the fifth place match.
“It was our first tournament of the year so it tests our conditioning and mental toughness,” said Chargers head coach Anthony Califano. “It’s a grind, a lot of mat time.”
Chad Lampe was an individual champion for Dos Pueblos, going 9-0 in the 112-pound division. Five of the sophomore’s wins were by pin.
