Laguna Blanca couldn’t find its rhythm and dropped a 49-33 girls basketball decision against Valley Christian Academy of Santa Maria on Thursday night.
The Owls struggled shooting the ball and committed several fouls. They had three players foul out.
“They shot 42 free throws, that’s what killed us,” said first-year Laguna coach Chris Foster.
Natalie Nomura scored 12 points, Amanda Schulenberg added 11 and Krysta Brown pulled down 20 rebounds in the Owls’ season opener.
“We had so many shots that wouldn’t go down,” said Foster.
