Lauren McAlister and Mackenzie Scarborough scored goals to lead Laguna Blanca to a 2-1 girls soccer victory over visiting Bishop Diego in a game that was part of the Grace Brethren Tournament.
McAlister chested in a corner kick for the Owls’ first goal in the 15th minute.
Scarborough scored on a penalty kick in the second half after freshman Tiana Bonn was tackled from behind as she was taking a shot.
Bishop scored in the final minute.
“It’s early in the season and we are still sorting out lineups and our style of play, so these games are very important towards that goal,” Laguna coach Kevin Shertzer said. “We were very solid in the back with Fiona Jessup leading by example. Everyone got a chance to play and everyone contributed to our first victory of the year.”
