COLUMBUS, Ohio – Junior Kevin Ferguson posted a career best time of 20.11 seconds in the 50 freestyle on Thursday evening to highlight day one action at the 2010 AT&T Short Course National Championships at Ohio State’s Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion.
Ferguson swam the preliminary heat in 20.30 seconds, matching his time from the Arena Invitational two weeks ago in Long Beach. Then, in Thursday’s bonus final, he won his heat in 20.11 seconds, which was the 13th fastest time during the finals.
Garrett Thompson also qualified for the 50 free bonus final with his prelim time of 20.48. He finished 29th overall in the event with his finals game of 20.67 seconds.
Paige Bradley represented the Gaucho women on the first day of the meet in the 200 individual medley. She posted the 54th fastest time in the morning’s prelims (2:04.00).
The Short Course National Championships continue on Friday with the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 free, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke.
