Playing a day after facing defending CIF champion Malibu, the Carpinteria girls soccer team ran out of gas and lost to La Reina 3-0 on Wednesday.
“We were tired. We had only two players on the bench,” Carpinteria coach Lucy Carleton said. “We rose to the challenge. We played well in the second half.”
Carleton praised the play of Shirley Benitez and Christina Valdez.
