Dos Pueblos bounced back from early deficits in both of its matches Friday at the Cats and Hounds soccer tournament in Atascadero.
In their opener, the Chargers conceded a goal to Lompoc in the 19th minute before erupting for six of their own in a 6-1 triumph.
They gave up a 17th minute goal to Arroyo Grande and fought back for a 2-1 win over the Eagles
The two victories raise DP’s record to 4-0 and set up a showdown with Palmdale Saturday morning. Palmdale was the tournament runnerup last year.
Against Lompoc, Ivan Luna scored twice and Scott Perry, Irving Beltran, Nick Neumann and Danny Rowell added singles goals.
“We started slow and sloppy,” DP coach Tovi Eliasen said. “Lompoc had played earlier, and in the second half they were getting fatigued. Our last three goals came in a span in five minutes.”
Rowell followed up a header by Chris Castillo to score the tying goal against Arroyo Grande. Neumann delivered the game-winner following a free kick by Castillo.
