Dos Pueblos tightened its defense in the fourth quarter and pulled way from Hart, 56-51, in the fifth-place of the Tournament of Champions on Thursday.
“We pulled away in the fourth quarter by making some stops,” a pleased DP coach Jelani Hicks said. “Our half-court defense is coming along. We’re playing a lot smarter on offense and defense, so that was good.”
The offense was balanced. Chiara DiMarco and Jasmine Mata each scored 14 points, Jessica Escalante added 12 and Talitha Draper and Kristen Gowdy scored eight apiece.
“We’ve been having a lot of good balance lately, and that is definitely good,” said Hicks.
Escalante and DiMarco were named to the all-tournament team.
The Chargers improve to 11-2 on the season.
