Dos Pueblos rebounded from its tough loss to Peninsula by crashing the boards and playing tougher defense in beating Santa Ynez 75-51 in the green division at the Tournament of Champions on Wednesday.
Four players scored in double figures for the Chargers, led by Chiara DiMarco with 18 points. Kristen Gowdy scored 16 points, Jessica Escalante 14 and Jasmine Mata 13. Stephanie Salinas added nine points.
“We shut them down with our defense,” DP coach Jelani Hicks said of a key to the win. “We kept the pressure on with our half-court defense.”
The Chargers (10-2) play Hart in a fifth-place game at 2:15 on Thursday at San Marcos.
