Dos Pueblos poured in 38 goals in posting a pair of lopsided wins on the first day of the Newport Holiday Cup girls water polo tournament on Thursday.
The wins extend DP’s win streak to 44 games and move the defending champions to the semifinals against Foothill, which upset host Newport Harbor.
“Obviously, Foothill has improved quite a bit,” DP coach Chris Parrish said.
The Chargers beat Foothill 16-9 in their second game of the season.
On Thursday, Lauren Shackelford scored five goals and Ari St. Oegger added four in a 22-9 rout of Beckman. Kiley Neushul handed out four assists and goalie Chandler Vilander blocked seven shots.
DP later beat Palos Verdes 16-7 behind a stellar performance from Jamie Neushul. She had six goals, four assists and five steals.
Tiera Schroeder and Kodi Hill both scored two goals.
The Chargers (8-0) blew the game open early, rolling to an 8-1 lead in the first period.
