Santa Barbara put together back-to-back wins for the first time this season, beating Hawthorne and Artesia on Tuesday at the South Torrance Holiday Soccer Tournament.
Alexis Carmona and Matt Medina scored goals and Miguel Solis recorded the cleansheet in a 2-0 victory over Hawthorne.
Against Artesia, the Dons exploded for three goals in a 10-minute span to overcome a 1-0 deficit for a 3-1 win.
Alfredo Ibarra scored in the 50th and 52nd minutes and Marco Sanchez finished the flurry with a goal in the 60th minute.
“This was the first time we come back and beat someone when we were down,” said Santa Barbara coach Todd Heil. “Our back line did a great job, especially after giving up a goal. They collected themselves and played well in the second half. It was a great statement on their part.”
The Dons (4-3-3) play Channel Islands in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at noon.
