Santa Barbara High’s boys basketball team split its final two games at the Arroyo Grande Tournament on Saturday, falling to Atascadero before coming back to defeat Cabrillo 73-70.
Emilio Gonzalez scored 19 points against Cabrillo, including two free throws in the final minute to extend a one-point Dons lead.
Daniel Marshall led the Dons in scoring in that game, pouring in 23, while Gonzalez had a team-high in rebounds with eight.
The Dons (2-5) were happy to close out with a win after getting worked over by Atascadero 61-27 earlier in the day. Santa Barbara and Atascadero meet again sooner than later, as the Dons travel there to play on Monday.
Santa Barbara will also be happy to have a day of rest before then, having just played six games in six days.
