Dana Hills saddled San Marcos with a 60-23 defeat in the Tournament of Champions opener for both teams on Monday.
The Royals were overwhelmed in the first half, finding themselves down 35-7 at halftime.
San Marcos fared better in the second half, more than doubling their scoring output from the first two quarters. Gabby Sandoval led the Royals with nine points.
“We had a hard time finding our offensive rhythm,” San Marcos head coach Kristyn Miller said.
San Marcos tees off again Tuesday with a Green Division game against Bakersfield North in the Thunderhut at 4 p.m.
