Kelli Litchfield found some scoring rides in the small surf on offer Sunday.

Dos Pueblos’ surf team kept its perfect head-to-head record intact last weekend, topping Santa Barbara High’s team in a Scholastic Surf Series event held at Campus Point.

Clay Pfaendler brought in critical points for the Chargers by winning the men’s shortboard competition and placing third in the longboard division. Vinny Leonelli, the top-ranked shortboarder in the Santa Barbara-L.A. region entering the Campus Point contest, posted a second-place for DP in the men’s shortboard. Charlie Dentzel, a Bishop Diego student, placed sixth for the Chargers.

Kelli Litchfield placed second in women’s longboard and third in the women’s shortboard events.

Dos Pueblos is now 3-0 on the season, having defeated Agoura, Malibu and Santa Barbara High.

The Chargers’ next SSS contest if February 6 in Santa Monica followed by the season’s last event at C-Street in Ventura on March 20. The High School State championships will be held April 30-May 2 in Oceanside.

  1. Ummmmm…if this is the DP surf team, why does it mention a Bishop students and has 3 San Marcos kids in these pictures?

    • Because DP, San Marcos, and Bishop have a “blended” team. DP didn’t have enough girls to participate, and San Marcos didn’t have enough surfers. Not sure why Bishop is in with us, probably the same reason.

They wanted to make sure that all schools in SB and all kids that wanted to surf were not left out…SB has some home schooled kids and private school kids. Does it matter? Its all for the kids and the ones who love to surf…
