Dos Pueblos’ girls basketball team continued play at the Righetti Tournament on Tuesday, splitting its two games against Lompoc and the host Warriors.
The Chargers were able to top Lompoc 56-44 before dropping a 59-52 decision to Righetti. Dos Pueblos, now 13-3 on the year, face Pioneer Valley on Wednesday.
Jessica Escalante tallied 20 points and three steals against the Warriors, who the Chargers had beaten once before in an earlier tournament. After falling behind by 15 points in the first half, DP chipped away at the deficit and came all the way back to take a two-point lead in the third quarter.
Righetti improved to 7-4 overall.
“This whole tournament we’ve been trying to focus on what we need to improve on and not necessarily wins and losses,” said Chargers head coach Jelani Hicks.
Chiara DiMarco led the Chargers in scoring in the win, tallying 13. Amanda Velarde added 12 more off the bench.
