Bishop Diego knocked off North County Christian 73-37 on Tuesday, kicking off the Village Christian Tournament on a winning note.
“Everyone scored and I got to rest some guys,” said Cardinals head coach Dean Prophet, who saw his team shoot 52 percent from the field.
Elias Muñoz led Bishop in scoring with 17 points and added nine rebounds. Ben Kwock was a force without scoring too much, piling up eight assists and ten steals. Johnny Diaz scored 12 to help Bishop improve to 6-5.
The Cardinals move on to face a tough Nipomo team on Wednesday.
“I think if we play well, we can play with them,” Prophet said of Nipomo.
