Danny Torres took some chances starting three sophomores on the back line in Carpinteria’s boys soccer opener on Tuesday.
After a 3-0 victory over Buena, Torres is feeling mighty good about the trio of Luis Cisneros, Genaro Hurtado and Angel Varela.
“It looked like their 50th game on varsity,” said Torres of his three defenders. “It’s nice to see sophomores play like veterans.”
Ismael Soriano scored all three goals for the Warriors.
Torres started five sophomores and he was pleased with all of them. He also was impressed with the play of freshman center midfielder Johnny Requejo.
“He’s pretty special,” said the coach.
