“Erika and Sarah ran phenomenal races,” said coach Scott Fickerson. “They executed our race strategy perfectly and ran really tough, gutsy races.”
Vaquero sophomore Garrett Edwards placed 96th in a men’s field of 217 with a 21:53 clocking on the four-mile course. David Cardona of El Camino was the winner in 19:57.
San Bernardino Valley captured its fifth straight title with 78 points.
“While it wasn’t his fastest time of the season, Garrett ran a very aggressive race and went for it today,” Fickerson noted. “He did what he had to do to be successful. I’m very proud of everything he accomplished this season.”
